Note: Between 1906 and 1910, Braque travelled to the port of L’ Estaque, in the south of France. This etching was produced after the original painting of the same title (1907), that was created during this trip. At this time, Braque was influenced by the art of Cézanne and the Fauvists, which is evident in his colour palette, though Braque manipulated the planes in his own style, which soon moved to Cubism.

Note: Housed in the publisher’s original maroon velvet gallery presentation box, lettered in gold on the front cover. This work was produced in several precious metal finishes. The information from the publisher on the inside cover lists the various patinas and editions. The publisher states: “The master mould used in the execution of these sculptures has been destroyed.” This work is documented by archivist Albert Field and is registered in the Salvador Dali Archives.
