Note: Between 1906 and 1910, Braque travelled to the port of L’ Estaque, in the south of France. This etching was produced after the original painting of the same title (1907), that was created during this trip. At this time, Braque was influenced by the art of Cézanne and the Fauvists, which is evident in his colour palette, though Braque manipulated the planes in his own style, which soon moved to Cubism.
