Note: Le Picador II was one of 4 lithographs created for “Los Toros Avec Picasso” (Sauret), all initially in a single colour (black). When it was suggested to Picasso that he might want to add some colour to the image, he proceeded to use every colour in a box of 24 wax crayons. The outcome is Picasso’s most colourful lithograph, surprising even the artist in its successful printing. The two dates relate to the initial and 24-colour version.
