These works were acquired directly from E. B. Cox. The consignor, a new gemologist at the time, worked as an assistant teacher at Central Technical School, Toronto, where Cox was taking an evening gemology course. On one of her visits to his property outside Toronto, Cox encouraged her to buy one of his “junk birds”. She proceeded to buy 4 small pieces, intrigued by the various stones and lines. These works have been in her collection since.
