Provenance: Former collection of Herbert Malcolm (Herb) Lott & Grace Lott (Edmonton AB), and by descent to the family. Alex Janvier resided with the Lotts periodically during the 1950s and 1960s. The Lotts encouraged the artist in his pursuit of an art education, which Janvier completed (1956-1960) at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and Art (now Alberta University of the Arts). The Lotts acquired this piece directly from the artist, who began exhibiting commercially shortly after graduation. This work shortly predates Janvier’s first solo gallery exhibition in 1964.

Provenance: Assiniboia Gallery, Regina SK. This work was acquired by the gallery in the late 1970s from Morrisseau’s business manager. A copy of a certificate signed by John Kurtz (gallery founder) accompanies the painting; purchased by Dr. W. V. Staden (Redvers SK) from Assiniboia Gallery in 1979 (copy of receipt included); acquired from the Staden collection by the current consignor in 2010.
