Note: Robinson was one of the first American artists to take up impressionism, visiting Giverny and developing a close friendship with Claude Monet. He first visited Paris in 1876, exhibiting at the Salon a year later. He returned to France in 1884, where he would live for the next eight years, moving in next door to the famous impressionist.
