St. Ann’s Church, built in 1854, was Montreal’s second English Catholic church. For many years it was the heart of the Griffintown Irish-catholic working-class community. The church was demolished in 1970. The location is now the site of Parc Griffintown-St-Ann. This nostalgic scene would be particularly meaningful to Tomalty, who was raised in a strong Irish household, and who played hockey growing up, and later for the Montreal Royals.
