Note: This work is included as a full-page colour illustration on page 45 of “I Heard the Drums” (Allen Sapp; Stoddart Publishing Co. Ltd.; Toronto; 1996). Sapp’s personal caption for the painting reads: “I can still see my grandmother feeding the chickens as if it were yesterday. I loved being with her when she was feeding them.” A copy of the book accompanies the painting.
